Business Process Overview

Workflow business processes are enhanced workflows that perform an organization-specific process, offer extensive reporting, and can be manually started in the Laserfiche Client and Web Access. See an overview of the difference between workflows and business processes.

Example: When employees want to submit a travel request, they select their request in Web Access and click the "Travel Request Business Process" button in Web Access. The business process automatically routes their requests to the appropriate departments for approval. Along the way, the process provides personalized instructions for each person involved, records the specifics of each stage and decision, and sends automated notifications to the participants. Employees can view the status of their requests at any time by opening the entry and checking the Business Process Pane. Departments review business process reporting details in Workflow on a monthly basis to troubleshoot bottlenecks and inefficiencies in their business processes.

If configured in the Business Process Options, business processes can be viewed and started from the Laserfiche Client or Web Access. This allows business processes to be started directly from entries in your Laserfiche repository and allows you to view which business processes are currently running on a given entry.
